AN AWARD-WINNING folk duo is heading to Dorchester Arts with a performance that traverses nationalities.

Josie Duncan, from the Isle of Lewis, and Pablo Lafuente from Spain, were the winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2017. Their music blends ancient ballads with Gaelic puirt a beul, accompanied by songs from the mines and cotton mills as well as some original writing.

Both performers are accomplished musicians in their own right. Josie is a recent graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she studied alongside some of the masters of Scottish and Gaelic traditions. Her crystal clear voice with a slight island twang adapts beautifully to music of all genres.

Pablo studied the guitar and the fiddle at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music, and since moving from Spain has put down roots in Scotland. His dynamic and sensitive guitar playing illuminates Josie's lyrics as the duo create a performance that will leave audiences stunned.

*Josie and Pablo will be performing at Dorchester Corn Exchange on Friday, September 13, at 8pm. Tickets are £13 or £11 for concessions, and can be bought in person, via the Dorchester Arts website or by contacting the box office.
