FANS of Madness and The Specials are in for a treat, as Special Kinda Madness returns to Weymouth Pavilion.
The production is back for a second year running, with a performance including authentic music from each legendary band. Audiences can expect to hear hits from The Specials including Ghost Town, Message to You Rudy and Gangsters, as well as top Madness tunes like House of Fun, Embarrassment and Our House.
Madness and The Specials both entered the music scene at the end of the 1970s, sparking a craze for the ska and 2-Tone genre. The Specials achieved seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981, while Madness spent a record 214 weeks on the UK singles charts throughout the 1980s.
Ska was a music genre that originated in Jamaica in late 1950s, and was a precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean folk sounds and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. 2-Tone fused traditional ska with aspects of punk rock and new wave music.
Special Kinda Madness will perform in the pavilion's Ocean Room, which boasts a stage, sprung dancefloor and bar, guaranteeing to have audiences dancing all night long. Tickets for the show, which takes place from 8pm on Saturday, September 14, are £22. Doors open at 7.30pm.
