THIS was a real blast from the past for me tonight. The memories of school discos leaning against the wall wishing I could dance like Jeffrey Daniel but never quite getting up the courage to give it a go.

Well here we are many years later and I still can’t dance but Mr Daniel has definitely still got it by the bucket load as have the rest of Shalamar as they took to the stage and turned the heat up on a cold, wet Friday night.

Opening with Right In The Socket and smash hit Make That Move, the years melted away and the crowd danced along to that distinctive Shalamar mix of disco, dance and soul music that had seen them sell millions of records around the world.

A mellow three song acoustic section was quickly followed by another classic million seller Take That To The Bank, from 1978 if you can believe that.

They then bring us right up to date with their 2019 single The Real Thing. The tune stays true to the original mix of Soul and dance and proves that Shalamar are indeed still the real thing.

The highlight of the show comes with the closing numbers Second Time Around, There It Is, I Can Make You Feel Good (with mass dance along) and show closer A Night To Remember.

A pretty stripped-back show with no bells and whistles but still a great night out.
