A MULTI award-winning Scottish trio will perform for one night only at a venue in Dorset on Thursday, November 14.

In just five years, Talisk has received several awards for their energetic yet artful sound, including 2017's Folk Band of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, and a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award. As part of their UK-wide tour this November, Talisk will perform at Cerne Abbas Village Hall through Artsreach, Dorset's touring arts charity.

The trio is comprised of Mohsen Amini, Hayley Keenan and Graeme Armstrong, who blend concertina, fiddle and guitar to create multi-layered music which has captivated audiences across the world. The band have appeared at festivals including the Cambridge Folk Festival, WOMAD and Celtic Connections, developing a core following of fans and attracting praise from the world's folk media.

In 2018, frontman Mohsen was crowned BBC Radio 2's Folk Musician of the Year, and was nominated again in 2019. Hailing from Glasgow, Mohsen has fast become one of the leading figures on the folk music scene, gigging and touring with some of the top names in the industry. As well as his involvement with Talisk, he also founded acclaimed supergroup Imar at the beginning of 2016.

Hayley began playing the piano at the age of eight before taking up the fiddle at 11, influenced by her grandfather's love of Scottish music. She has studied both at The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she graduated with first class honours.

Brought up on the Scottish Borders, Graeme began playing the guitar at the age of 12, going on to study the prestigious folk and traditional music course at Newcastle University. Here, he specialised in performance and composition and co-founded the award-winning Rachel Hamer Band. Graeme toured the world with various bands and musicians before joining Talisk in 2017.

The band's performance in Cerne Abbas begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14 for adults and £10 for under-18s, available from 07779 299541, in person from Cerne Abbas Stores or online at www.artsreach.co.uk
