AN AUTUMN concert presented by Dorset County Orchestra will take place on Saturday, November 16 at the Dorford Centre in Dorchester.

Arturo Serna, teacher, conductor and prize-winning cellist, will return to the podium to lead the orchestra through a breathtaking repertoire. The programme will include the overture to Beethoven's Creations of Prometheus Ballet, the third violin concerto of the French composer Camille Saint-Seans, and Brahm's third symphony.

Piotr Kopec is the soloist in the Saint-Saens Conerto, and studied violin at Trinity College of Music in London. In recent years, he has performed all of the major violin concertos and is a member of several string quarters, playing a 1673 Andrea Guarneri violin on loan from Felicity Belfield.

The Dorset County Orchestra was founded in 1951 and is formed of semi-professional and amateur musicians from across the county. The orchestra present three concerts a year and perform a wide selection from the classical repertoire, as well as undertaking various collaborations with local choral societies.

The orchestra is entirely self-funded and supports itself through subscriptions, concert proceeds and sponsorship.

Tickets for the Autumn Concert, which begins at 7.30pm, are £10 in advance from the Dorchester TIC or £12 on the door.
