BRAZILIAN clown collective Nos Three will be in Dorset for a mini residency at Bridport’s Lyric Theatre, with two theatre shows and a clowning masterclass open to all, on November 15 and 16.

Nos Three is an award-winning collaboration between three Brazilian artists based in Bristol with the aim of creating new authentic work focused on the research of the playful, comic and black comedy to subvert logic and redefine day-to-day routine.

On Friday, November 15 at 8pm they present their show for ages 12 up, Blooming Out; a physical theatre play, performed by Bianca Bertalot and Maria de Jesus Rocha on the meaning of the feminine universe. The life of every woman is filled with great discoveries and endless transformations. Through playful, non-verbal and provocative performance they explore some of the most intriguing moments in a feminine universe. Beauty, periods, oppression, maternity, taboos, love and growing old are just some of the many fascinating and difficult themes that build the intriguing story of this play. Blooming Out is a celebration of being a woman.

Doors and bar open 7:30pm for a prompt 8pm start. Tickets are £12 / £5 (12-18s).

The following day at 10.30am, Nos Three present Friendly Ever After, a touching story of two characters trying to find true friendship. When fate unites them, they realise that cultivating a new friendship is not an easy job, particularly at this early stage of their lives. They discover together the beauty of friendship and the need to respect, help and understand one’s friend. Between the many jokes, arguments, disputes and amusing moments, they discover with the help of the young audience that friendship can be deeper and more rewarding if they simply start to act with genuine kindness, tolerance and empathy with one another. This is an interactive play for ages 5+ and their families.

The show starts at 10:30am; the box office opens at 10am, though BearKat Cafe is open from 9am and also sells (limited) tickets. Tickets are £8 (adult) / £6 (child).

There will be a clowning masterclass on Saturday November 16, 2 to 5pm, open to professionals and novices alike. Come and have a go at finding your inner clown. In the workshop, you will work with the clown technique based on studies from Nose to Nose (institute that covers works such as The Bataclown and the Sacred Art of Clown, to name but a few) and the pre-expressive technique (researched by Eugênio Barba), that aims to provide an opportunity for performers to experiment on the principles of dilatation and manipulation of their energy.

Tickets for all three events are available from Bridport TIC on 01308 424901 or from bridportandwestbay.co.uk.
