ONE of the most prolific figures in English folk is set to entertain an audience in Litton Cheney on Thursday, December 5.

John Kirkpatrick will explore the timeless rituals and folklore of midwinter England with his concert, Carolling and Crumpets. He will reveal the pagan themes which haunt traditional songs and customs, all the while performing an array of toe-tapping tunes accompanied by a melodeon, button accordion and anglo concertina.

Joining the Hammersmith Morris Men at the age of 12, John has enjoyed a long career on the English folk scene, performing solo and in duets, acoustic groups and electric bands across the country. His music can be heard on more than 200 different commercial recordings and he also has an enviable reputation as an interpreter of folk.

John will perform at Litton Cheney Community Hall on Thursday, December 5.

The performance begins at 7.30pm. Tickets are £9-£10 for adults (depending on venue), £6 for children and £25 for a family of four, available from the Artsreach website or box office.
