TWO of the UK's foremost pianists are joining forces to present a concert exploring the masterpieces of early 20th century music.

John Law and David Gordon, who are trained both classically and in jazz, will perform excerpts from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Since its premiere in 1913 - a concert which sparked a riot in Paris - the ballet has consistently fascinated musicians and members of the public with its jarring harmonies and rhythmic vitality.

John Law is a leading jazz pianist and composer who has performed at more than 50 festivals worldwide. He is joined onstage by David Gordon, a former harpsichordist of the esteemed baroque orchestra The English Concert, who has toured America and performed in some of the best concert halls in the world.

Placed within a classic interpretation of Stravinsky's masterpiece are reworkings of the iconic music, as the two pianists explore its jazz possibilities.

The duo will perform at Tincleton Gallery, in Tincleton near Dorchester, on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23. The concerts both begin at 8pm, with wine and nibbles served in the interval.

Tickets are £15 per person, or £50 for a group of four. To book, contact info@tincletongallery.com or call 01305 848909.
