A POPULAR community choir will be giving two performances in the area.

Dorset for Singing are busy rehearsing for two upcoming Christmas concerts. Their first appearance will be at Dorchester Community Church in Poundbury on Wednesday, December 4 at 7pm.

There will be a mixture of Christmas songs and carols with a few surprises in store. The concert is free to attend with a retiring collection in aid of the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust, Dorchester branch’s chosen charity this year.

The second concert will be held at St. Aldhelm’s Church, Spa Road, Weymouth on Thursday, December 12 at 7pm.

Musical director, Ed Hintze said: “It’s fantastic when both Dorchester and Weymouth choirs come together for these concerts. They have worked really hard on some challenging pieces, it’ll be great to show them off."

Again, this is free to attend with a retiring collection going to the Veteran’s Hub, Weymouth’s chosen charity this year.

The Weymouth choir have been enjoying using St. Aldhelm’s facilities in which to rehearse after no longer being able to use All Saints School.

“St. Aldhelm’s have been brilliant after we received the news from All Saints just after we finished for the summer break,” Ed explained.

“We were sorry to leave All Saints after 11 years but our members seem really happy with the new rehearsal venue.”
