RIVER Cottage’s Summer Fair provided foodies with a fun packed programme of cooking demonstrations, live music, foraging and pig racing.

River Cottage HQ, based on the Devon/Dorset border near Axminster, is home to an award-winning cookery school.

Supporting the event’s kick off on Friday, August 15 was the 10-piece band ‘Joey the Lips’, who got everyone into the party spirit with their funk, soul, blues and disco vibes.

Harriet Grose marketing and events co-ordinator at River Cottage said: “Come Saturday, the sun was shining and families arrived in glorious weather.

“Masterclasses were fully booked in advance and plenty of fun was had in the kid’s and adult’s pasta making session.

“Our kid’s area was busy all day long, not to mention the garden tours with head gardener Will Livingstone, foraging walks with John Wright and the highly anticipated pig racing with farmer Dan.”

“The vegan River Cottage food proved to be a hugely popular."

On offer for foodie fanatics was also a selection of dishes including pulled pork buns from Masterchef winner Ping Coombes to crab and lobster burgers from Flippin' Fresh.

Last year’s apprentices were also welcomed back to the event with their own food concession ‘Native’ which sold out on the first day.

On Saturday night Tankus the Henge entertained guests while River Cottage head chef Gelf Alderson served up his beef merguez burger in hand with a pint of Sheppy’s cider to round the event off.
