A CHIPPIE has cooked up a vegan menu for customers.
Fish and chip fans who visit Callaways Fish & Chips in Fordington, Dorchester, will be able to enjoy a fishless fishcake, vegan nuggets and a vegan sausage.
Ian Callaway, of the Fordington Green shop said: “When we’re all being asked to watch our waistlines and offer more healthy options, as well as cater for all the family, we’ve responded by extending our menu to add in vegetarian and vegan choices.
"It’s been well received and we’re glad to now be able to offer a range of quorn, halloumi and veggie sausages, amongst other options."
The shop also offers gluten free options on Monday.
Ian said the business is also looking at ways to become more environmentally friendly.
“We’re also trying hard to source sustainable fish and we are gradually trying to move over to more environmentally friendly measures, such as biodegradable pots.
"Currently, we’re using sustainable palm oil, with the intention of moving away from palm altogether. Many businesses need to be more aware of their corporate social responsibilities and starting with small steps is the way forward.”
