GUESTS at a special gin evening sampled a Hollywood A-lister's favourite tipple.

Morrish and Banham wine merchant at Brewery Square in Dorchester hosted a gin cocktail masterclass demonstrating drinks made with Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds' Aviation American gin.

The gin is distilled using a 'proprietary maceration process' that is said to produce a medley of botanical flavour.

Mixologist Alex of Ginger Viking Deli and Cafe Bar in Blandford demonstrated a number of cocktails that can be made with the gin, which is distilled in the Pacific Northwest of the US.

Alex also taught drinkers that Aviation is part of a new wave of dry gins which embody a shift away from the tendency to use juniper, towards an array of botanicals.

He pointed out notes of lavender, cardamom, and sarsaparilla in the gin.

Morrish and Banham has recently played host to a Sicilian food and wine masterclass, and a Dorset Wines by the Glass session in honour of English Wine Week.

Next month will see a First of the Summer Wine tasting event at the Seaside Boarding House in Burton Bradstock on June 20 and at YCs Cafe in Dorchester on June 21. Private wine and private gin tastings are hosted all year round.
