A DROP-IN wine tasting event is being held at Brewery Square in Dorchester.

Furleigh Estate, which is based at Salway Ash near Bridport, is inviting retailers to come to the square and try 10 different wines at a specially curated pop up unit.

The trade tasting at 6 Brewery Square on Thursday, October 3 from 10.30am to 3.30pm will give inspiration to sommeliers looking to spruce up autumn wine lists and retailers preparing their Christmas shelves.

A seasonal buffet lunch will be provided and guests can also enjoy tasters from local artisan producers, Capreolus Fine Food and Book and Bucket Cheese, whilst exploring the range.

Rebecca Hansford, who co-owns and runs Furleigh Estate with her husband Ian Edwards, said: “We’re delighted to open No.6’s doors to friends, customers and press and introduce our range to new faces. It will be the perfect chance to try our latest releases including our still, dry rosé Sea Pink. We will have a total of 10 wines on the table, from our sparkling cuvées to our white Pinot Noir, offering buyers a huge diversity ahead of the changing seasons with potential for both the on- and off-trade."

As consumers increasingly turn to homegrown wines and spend more in the run up to Christmas, Furleigh Estate’s award-winning English wines are said to provide the perfect trade up from everyday supermarket wines both in terms of quality and cost.

A highlight will be the aforementioned Sea Pink, a delightfully vibrant still dry rosé, very food-friendly. A blend of 50% Pinot noir and 50% Rondo, it has a stunning crushed cranberry colour with long legs. Floral scents of peony mingle with mixed berries including raspberry, red cherry, loganberry and a hint of rosehip. The palate is bursting with flavours of sun-ripened soft red fruit alongside redcurrant and cranberry with a dash of uplifting acidity, a refreshing option for the cooler months when heavier or sweeter wines are often pushed. The launch of Sea Pink followed the collaboration with cult Dorset brand Baboo Gelato, which makes its ice cream less than two miles from the Furleigh Estate vineyard, to create a sensational new Sea Pink Rosé sorbet.

Furleigh Estate wines can be bought from the website furleighestate.co.uk, direct from the vineyard or from numerous leading independents nationwide. To attend the tasting, email Hayley@rawfoodanddrinkpr.co.uk.
