NICKY and Paul King, owners of the Eastbury Hotel and the Three Wishes café bistro in Sherborne, are celebrating after scooping Gold Awards for both businesses in this year’s Taste of the West Hospitality Awards.

Nicky said: “We won Gold for our Restaurant at The Eastbury last year and we were determined to do it again this year.

“Being judged gold at both our café bistro and restaurant is testament to the hard work of the whole team.

“Our philosophy at the Eastbury has always been about serving the freshest, seasonal, local produce in a way that allows the flavour of each ingredient to shine and that is something that we have strived to recreate at the Three Wishes over the past year – and it’s worked!”

Head chef, Brett Sutton added: “I think people have come to expect a certain standard in the sourcing of local and regional produce within fine dining restaurants.

“But we have been determined to use all our producer contacts to offer a fantastic dining experience at the Three Wishes as well – we don’t see any need to compromise. “Cafe food can be just as memorable as a fine dining experience and I am ecstatic that the judges have recognised this.”

He continued: “At the Eastbury we source everything we possibly can from local producers, and at the Three Wishes it’s exactly the same.

“Our full English breakfast includes homemade sausages made from our own pigs, proper cured, Sherborne bacon, Poyntington portabello mushrooms and every kind of fried, poached or scrambled free-range eggs.

“We are holding a Best of British Theme Night at the Three Wishes on November 18 and that will be a wonderful night of totally British flavours made from local ingredients.

“I’d love plenty of people to come along just to see why we won gold.”
