Griddled Tuna Melt

This healthy snack can either be griddled or grilled. It's the ultimate in fast food and is perfect served with cress, cucumber or crispy little gem leaves.

Serves 1 2 slices Hovis Best of Both (medium-sliced) 1tbsp natural yogurt or pesto 50g/ 1 oz cheddar, grated 105g canned tuna, drained 1. Preheat a griddle pan.

2. Mash the tuna, natural yogurt or pesto and cheese together and spread evenly on one slice of bread. Top with the other slice of bread and press together well.

3. Place in the griddle pan and toast for 3-4 minutes until golden. Flip over and toast the other side.

4. Cut in half on the diagonal and serve warm topped with cress.

If grilling, place under a pre-heated grill and turn halfway through, toasting until golden and cheese starts to melt and ooze.

Best Of Both Bruschetta

It's easy to keep everyone happy when they can choose their own favourite toppings. The bread takes on all the delicious Mediterranean flavours.

Serves 1 2 slices Hovis Best of Both (thick sliced) 4 thin slices chorizo 2tsp olive oil 1 garlic clove, peeled 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped small red pepper, chopped 40g/1 oz mozzarella, chopped fresh basil leaves, torn 1. Preheat the oven to 210C, 425F, Gas mark 7.

2. Sandwich the two slices of bread with the chorizo and place on a non-stick baking sheet. Drizzle over a little oil.

3. Bake the bread for five minutes, flip it over, drizzle with a little more oil and return to the oven for a further five minutes.

4. Remove from oven when very crispy. Rub both sides with the garlic clove.

5. Toss the tomatoes, pepper, mozzarella, basil and remaining oil together. Season to taste.

6. Pile on to the bruchetta and eat straight away.

You can sandwich the bread together with wafer-thin ham, salami, pesto or olive tapenade.

Houmous and Crunchy Carrot Sarnies

Creamy houmous and a crunchy oriental salad make for a really tasty, healthy sandwich. The salad is also good with cream cheese or grated cheddar.

Serves 1 2 slices Hovis Best of Both (medium sliced) 2 heaped tbsp ready-made houmous 1 medium carrot, peeled 4 slices cucumber, cut into thin strips 3 radishes, thinly sliced ( optional ) small orange, juice only tsp olive oil 1. Spread one half of the bread with creamy houmous.

2. With a peeler, peel the carrot into ribbons and place in a small bowl with the cucumber and radishes.

3. Squeeze over a little orange juice and olive oil. Toss well together.

4. Arrange the salad on top of the houmous and top with remaining bread. Cut into six small rectangles.
