THEY say two’s company, three’s a party and that’s certainly the case with metal maniacs The Rocket Dolls.

The Brighton-based three-piece, who have shared the stage with such monsters as Funeral For A Friend, Zico Chain, The Quireboys and Therapy? since forming back in 2009, will be bringing their noise to Finns in Weymouth tonight.

As singer Lord Nikki Smash (he’s probably not a real lord, just one of those titles you can buy online, probably) says: “The video for our song Eyes has gone Top Ten on metal satellite telly channel Scuzz.”

Lord Smash will be joined on stage at Finns by drummer Ben Knopfler and they’ll be introducing new bassist Tommy K, who’ll be making his debut at the Weymouth gig tonight.

So be gentle with him.

Support tonight comes from industrial metal merchants Falling From Vanity and local heroes Fissure of Riddles.

It’s £3 on the door tonight from 7pm, so get there early as it’s bound to be rammed, with minimal moshing space.

Moving on, tomorrow night is the last DA Blues session at Dorchester Arts Centre of the year and they’re closing 2013 in style with Californian guitar whizz Guy Tortora.

Rated as one of the top acoustic and electric bottleneck players on the planet, Guy will be performing his own and traditional blues tunes with bassist Costa Tancredi.

BBC Radio 2’s Rhythm and Blues Show presenter Paul Jones is a huge fan, saying: “Excellent songwriting. Subtle, beautiful, and superb slide guitar.”

Paul then walked down the street, snappin’ his fingers and shufflin’ his feet, singing do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, before being collected by matron.

Guy’s previous arts centre shows have sold out but there are a few tickets left from £13 from the box office on 01305 266926.

But be quick!

Now then, the humble ukulele has had something of a renaissance of late, with many pubs across the country hosting come and have a go nights.

It’s simple and fun to play and because the instrument has only four strings, even bass guitarists are not intimidated.

There are two ukulele nights round these parts worth a mention.

Graham James’s Thursday night sessions at the Sailors Return in Weymouth have been going for a few months now and are pulling in quite a few regulars.

So much so that a group of them went busking around the town pubs the other weekend and collected nearly £400 for the Fortuneswell Unit at Dorset County Hospital. Good work, fellas!

And music teacher Lucy Broddle has now started her Monday night ukulele sessions at the King’s Arms out at Portesham.

It’s proving pretty popular and is turning into a real community night.

Right, that’s it for this week.

I’ve just bought one of those reversible USB cables and I’m not sure which end to stick it in first.

’Till next time..
