BROWSING through the extensive library at Horton Towers the other day, I picked up the Oxford English Dictionary and looked up the word: Ubiquitous.

And there it was, in black and white, rather like the photo with this article, right in front of me: Ubiquitous: Present, found or appearing everywhere. For example: Hirsute acoustic trio The Leggomen.

Well, I thought, like the guy who can’t pronounce his Fs or his Ts, you can’t say fairier than that.

The Weymouth pop/folk three-piece of Billy Hutchinson, Josh Ellis and Olly Coe have been notching up an incredible number of gigs and this weekend the beared wonders celebrate their first anniversary with a mere four more, two on Friday and two on Saturday.

As singer Billy tells me: “It’s been an amazing year for us.

“We’ve now all given up the day jobs and are playing five nights a week, all over the place.”

Not only that, the band are off to America in June for a four-week tour.

“It all came about after one of our regular gigs at the Royal Oak in Weymouth,” added Billy.

“Some people with friends in the States said we’d go down well over there, we made contact with them and now we’re flying out to Tennessee on June 2.”

They’ve landed dates in Nashville, South Carolina and have even been booked for the Mayor of Prattville’s ball in Alabama. That’s proper showbiz for you!

The Leggomen are at a private function first tonight and then at Aura on Weymouth seafront from 1am. And you can catch them tomorrow, Saturday, April 5, firstly at the King’s Arms on the harbourside and then later at the Lazy Lizard.

Right, that’s it for this week.

I’m off to look up bottoms in the dictionary. Till next time..
