YOU’D have thought that after perhaps the most TITANIC bank holiday weekend since the last one, you’d be home putting your feet up with a cup of tea, a packet of Hobnobs and Rachel Riley on Countdown.

No such luck, as the relentless world of rock’n’roll grinds on, er, relentlessly.

And once again, there’s another night of high quality metal tomorrow night, Saturday, May 12, at Finns in Weymouth.

Headlining are local progressive death metal legends Anakim and it’ll be their last hometown show with vocalist and guttural grunter-in-chief Geoff Bradley.

As you can see from their picture on this page, they’re not the sort of guys you want to mess with, so make sure you give him a good send-off or they’ll be round.

They know where you live…

Also on the bill are London-based hardcore nutjobs This is Endless and they’ll be joined at Finns by Human Mycosis, who are one of the leading lights of the Cornish death metal scene.

Who knew there was such a thing?

Well, Jethro, for one, presumably…

Anyways, it’s £3 on the door from 7.30pm for this Realm of Wrongness promotion so get there early for a good spot in the mosh pit, moshers.

And let’s hope this fine spell of sunshine continues for two outdoor events this weekend.

The Weldmar Colour Run on Saturday, May 12 and Weldmar Bubble Rush on the Sunday, May 13, are two hugely popular events which bring in thousands of pounds for the fantastic south Dorset charity which provides end of life care for terminally-ill people and support for their families.

And there’s a terrific line up of live music at both events which take place in Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth.

On Saturday, The Speedway Snails and their fabulous inflatable guitars get the party started from midday, followed by Freezer from 1.30pm, before they head off sharpish to get first dibs on the backstage buffet, with Danny Adams taking the stage from 3pm.

And there’s an another tip-top line-up on Sunday to entertain the hundreds of punters at the Bubble Rush with Danny Adams returning to get it all going from midday, followed by Galaxy Thief at 1.30 and super acoustic duo The Secrets from 3pm.

And finally, here’s a heads up for the seventh Spenstock gig which takes place at Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room on Friday, June 1.

The event has been running since 2011 and has raised thousands of pounds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and is in memory of drummer Spencer Bates who lost his battle with this dreadful illness back in 2011.

As ever, a number of top bands and artists are giving their time and talent to help, with Tripod, C Sharp Blues Band, Hot Bacon and Chloe, Tom and Jack on the Box all playing.

Tickets are £10 from the Pavilion box office on 01305 783225.

Till next time…
