CD REVIEW
Lianne La Havas
Blood
This second album from London-based singer-songwriter La Havas gets off to a stirring start as the beats kick in on Unstoppable.
Somehow she has managed to better her debut Is Your Love Big Enough? with the autobiographical up-tempo Green and Gold and a ballad to rival Lost & Found in the sublime, breathy Wonderful, containing some very clever lyrics about electricity.
Never Get Enough is too heavy on experimentation and has a soft, dreamy vocal sitting uncomfortably alongside a hard vocal with techno backing.
There is not a bad track on the album, it's a trim mean fighting machine of a collection which is surely a contender for album of the year.
