THERE’S plenty to keep you entertained in the lead up to Christmas. Enjoy all the festive celebrations this weekend:

  • RUN, run as fast as you can to chase that Christmas pudding on Weymouth Beach on Sunday. The 5km Chase the Pudding Santa Dash starts at 11am when a sea of St Nicks will chase the pudding across the resort’s golden sands. All are invited to come along and watch and this year money will be raised for the Will Mackaness Trust, a charity which promotes watersports to underprivileged children.   • SIDE-SPLITTING laughs are to be had at the Marine Theatre in Lyme Regis on Sunday with The Christmassy Christmas Show of Christmassy Christmasness See-Play-Do’ brings the best family theatre from across the country to the Marine. As if that wasn’t enough, there are plenty of opportunities to join in too, with messy sessions and workshops running before or after the performances. This over-stuffed stocking of seasonal surprises crammed with puppets, songs, quizzes and comedy, and over-flowing with crazy characters, silly slapstick, tall tales and fantastic facts – all presented in that unique Squashbox style! It starts at 3pm.

  • SEE how Christmas used to be done at Kingston Lacy near Wimborne. A Traditional Christmas at the National Trust property continues until Sunday. See the laundry decorated using a range of traditional baubles and greenery from the estate, sample food and drink, discover Christmas traditions old and new and help to create the longest ‘Christmas Wish’ paper chain in Dorset. There will also be children’s Christmas craft activities. Father Christmas will also be at the house today from 4pm to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 1pm, 2pm to 4pm and 4.30pm to 6pm. There is no extra charge to meet Santa.
  • GO for a Full House at Salway Ash Village Hall Christmas Bingo tonight from 7pm. Eyes down at 7.30pm.
  • ENJOY a Cheese and Wine Evening and music from Donna Samways at Owermoigne Cricket & Social Club tomorrow. Doors open at 7.30pm, food is served from 8pm and there will be music from 9pm. People must register and pay in advance for the cheese and wine, which costs £5 per head by calling 07818 297775.
  • WARM up in this chilly weather with some Ceilidh & Bluegrass at Portesham Village Hall tomorrow evening from 7.30pm. Enjoy a great Christmas Warm-up with Bluegrass band ‘Bow Legged Skeeter’ and dance in the good old way to English & Irish traditional tunes with ‘The Village Ceilidh Band’ with caller Teresa Rabbetts.
