VH1 has confirmed it is to revive reality TV series The Osbournes.
Sharon Osbourne last week announced that she and her family – Ozzy, Jack and Kelly – were planning to make a new series of their fly-on-the-wall show, almost 10 years after The Osbournes came to an end on MTV after a four-season run.
MTV then denied they were reviving the series, but their sibling channel at Viacom, VH1, will produce the show this time, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The Osbournes was a hit reality show on MTV for three years from 2002 to 2005, and Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy became a comedy figure, wandering around the house confused, shouting “Sharon!”.
Sharon told ITV’s Loose Women: “Ozzy has decided that he wants to do another few episodes, not a whole season, about eight episodes of The Osbournes. He said for the whole three years that we did it he was drunk the whole time, so he said he would like to do one when he’s completely sober as he is now, so we’re like, ‘Yes!’.”
It has not yet been confirmed how many episodes will be made, but it is thought to be between six and eight.
Children Jack and Kelly will also take part. Their oldest daughter Aimee chose not to appear in the original show, while Ozzy’s older son Louis, from a previous relationship, made occasional cameos.
The family most recently teamed up for animated series The F’n Osbournes via Canadian animation house Cuppa Coffee Studios. A variety show, Osbournes Reloaded, failed to work on Fox in 2009 and was cancelled after the first episode flopped.
