TWO Bridport orchestras will join forces for a special concert next month.
Bridport Chamber Orchestra and Allington strings already share a conductor in the shape of Arturo Serna. and will perform together at St Mary's Church on Saturday, July 4.
The programme includes music to appeal to all tastes, featuring Pachelbel’s famous Canon and Gigue and Bach’s Art of Fugue, Mozart’s glorious Clarinet Concerto, Sibelius’ romantic Andante Festivo and music from Latin America by Aldemaro Romero.
After the original soloist for the Mozart concerto had to pull out, the orchestras have been lucky enough to secure the services of Joseph Shiner, one of the best young clarinet players in the country. Joseph began studying at Wells Cathedral School, achieved a double first class honours in Music at Cambridge and completed postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy. He has gone on to a busy career playing with orchestras and ensembles across the country and in the United States, has won numerous awards and made his London solo debut at St Martin in the Fields in 2013.
Tickets are £10 from the Bridport Music Centre and Book Shop and will be available on the door. Students will be admitted free of charge
