FANS of the BBC television programme Strictly Come Dancing are in for a treat when two of the professional dancers from the show perform at Bridport Arts Centre on Thursday, May 17.

The show, called Subitango, features the UK's leading tango dancers Marie and Giraldo and the musicians of Tango Siempre.

Originally from South America, Giraldo and Marie have studied with the greatest tango maestros in Buenos Aires. The band's repertoire includes the melodies of 1930s Buenos Aires and contemporary tango.

Subitango! has been touring since February 2001 and has given many highly acclaimed sell-out performances in theatres, festivals and arts centres throughout the UK.

Tango Siempre is widely considered to be the UK's leading tango ensemble. The quartet features Pete Rosser on accordion/bandoneon, Ros Stephen on violin, Kylie Davies on double bass and Jonathan Taylor on piano.

Their music spans all eras and styles of Tango Argentino, including original arrangements of the classic tangos, milongas and waltzes of the 1930s and 1940s, the thrilling nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla, and new compositions by their accordionist and bandoneonist Pete Rosser.

For those who would like to have a go at the dance, there is a one-hour workshop available before the show. Participants will learn the basics of Tango Argentina from the experts.

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are £10 plus concessions. The workshop runs for an hour from 6pm and costs £6.

Tickets for the show and the workshop are available from the box office on 01308 424204.
