THE Brontë sisters will get a make-over when Publick Transport brings its comic visual theatre to Bridport next week (11).
We Are Brontë is inspired by the real and imaginary worlds of the Yorkshire literary siblings, presented in Publick Transport's irreverent style at the Lyric Theatre.
Physical theatre collides with stand-up, clowning and improvisation as two performers deconstruct not only gothic themes of love, madness, repression and revenge, but also themselves. Part play, part enquiry into the act of putting on a play, this promises to be no ordinary Brontë adaptation.
Publick Transport was set up in Bristol in 2005 with the mission not to bore audiences . The company is dedicated to making comic theatre, drawing on clown, slapstick and the absurd to celebrate the live experience and stimulate all the senses and bodily parts – especially the belly.
Previous productions include 20,000 Leagues Under the Office, Very Hard Times and Discombobulated.
Publick Transport are masters in comedy - audiences are challenged to keep a straight face.
The performance will take place on Thursday, February 11 at 8pm. For more information, please call 01308 424204.
