MORE awards have been won by Weymouth Operatic Society.

The successful group has been given an Accolade of Excellence by NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) for last year's production of My Fair Lady.

The award follows a similar tribute for WOS's 2005 production of Me And My Girl.

Spokesman Martin Fiddick said: "We are absolutely thrilled by the award, it means a lot to everyone who took part, from the cast to the stage crew.

"And of course it means so much to Julie Storey who directed both Me And My Girl and My Fair Lady."

Now the group are rehearsing for their next production, the wonderful musical Singin' In The Rain based on the famous MGM musical which starred Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds.

Martin added: "The show is packed with wonderful numbers such as Make 'Em Laugh, You Were Meant for Me, Moses Supposes, Good Mornin' and of course Singin' In The Rain.

"For the famous rain scene we have booked a professional 'wet set' so our Gene Kelly, Paul Brewster, will get wet!

"Once again we are bringing the full musical theatre experience to the Pavilion stage, with a professional live band, set, lighting and sound together with a talented cast."

The show stars Paul Brewster as Don Lockwood (the Gene Kelly character), Will Dennick as Cosmo Brown, Kathy Selden (the Debbie Reynolds character) by Naomi Riglar and Lina Lamont by Karen Pankhurst.

Julie Storey is returning as director, assisted by musical director Peter Standing.

Singin' In The Rain is at the Weymouth Pavilion from Wednesday to Saturday, September 26 to 29. Tickets are priced at £11 for adults and £9 for children of 16 years and under. There is a 10 per cent reduction for parties of 10 or more.
