DORSET for Singing is celebrating its ninth birthday this week and is on the hunt for new members as rehearsals get underway for another busy year.
The Weymouth and Dorchester choir have performed in Oxford, Canterbury, the Isle of Wight, Normandy, St Austell, Blenheim Palace, Killerton House and countless venues in Dorset.
The singers are looking forward to many more appearances throughout the year.
Throughout the years, they have raised more than £10,000 for national and local charities.
Founder musical director Ed Hintze believes in a strong emphasis on enjoyable rehearsals where singers get to escape for a while and sing their hearts out.
He said: "There is no need to know how to read music and lyric sheets are provided. Members are welcome to dip in and out of the choir if they choose and the concerts/appearances are optional.
"The choir sing a wide range of songs from showstoppers to chart songs throughout the decades.
"There really is something for everyone. Rehearsals run from 6.45pm until 8pm on Wednesdays at the United Church, Dorchester and on Thursdays at All Saints School, Weymouth.
"Your first session is free, after which it costs just £3 per rehearsal, and even less if you subscribe termly or annually."
