NEW Year cheer is coming to Weymouth with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s New Year Johann Strauss Gala.

The New Year’s Day concert from Vienna is beamed to living rooms around the world but why not experience Johann Strauss’s music in the flesh and celebrate the start of 2018 with the BSO’s very own New Year Johann Strauss Gala.

Victor Aviat will conduct the BSO in an exhilarating array of waltzes, polkas and marches at Weymouth Pavilion on Saturday, January 6 at 7.30pm.

‘The Waltz King’ wrote hundreds of memorable melodies and you can be sure that two of his most famous ones, The Blue Danube and Thunder and Lightning Polka will be on the menu.

The full symphonic forces of the BSO will once again be joined by outstanding soprano Rhian Lois to bring you an evening of swirling melodies to carry you away into the glamour and sparkle of Viennese Dance Halls.

The programme will consist of Strauss's Overture to Fledermaus, Sphärenklänge Waltz Op.235 and Die Libelle Polka.

Also being performed are Vedrai Carino from Don Giovanni and Musetta's Walz from La Boheme by Puccini. Another Puccini classic O Mio Babbino Caro will be performed.

Audiences will also be able to enjoy On the Blue Danube and the Emperor Waltz.
