Another weekend of plentiful outdoor fun is ahead. Here's our round-up of the best of the weekend.

*THE New Hardy Players are ready for a busy weekend of open air performances of Thomas Hardy's historical romance The Trumpet Major.

Bring along a picnic and enjoy this colourful new production directed by Tim Laycock with Penny Levick.

They will perform at Max Gate in Dorchester on Friday, June 29 from 7.30pm and Watercombe House near Owermoigne from 2.30pm on Saturday, June 30.

Next they will perform at Lulworth Cove on Friday, July 6 from 7.30pm; Bridehead in Little Bredy from 2.30pm on Sunday, July 8; at the Vicarage in Cerne Abbas on Friday, July 13 from 7.30pm and at Kingston Maurward on Sunday, July 15 from 7.30pm.

*CHICKERELL Steam and Vintage Show comes to Knights in the Bottom at Chickerell this weekend.

The two day show will include steam engines, classic vehicles, live music, food hall, craft, models trains and boats, children's entertainment, trade, music, beer tent, arena events, food stalls and the Chickerell Challenge at 4pm tomorrow in the main arena.

*FIND out more about Weymouth Community Fire Station at its open day tomorrow (30) between 11am and 3pm.

Explore facilities, including SafeWise's full size road network and street scene. Experience stunning fire safety displays and demonstrations. There's loads to do and see, such as a teddy zip wire, barbecue and bouncy castle plus lots of stalls to browse. Money will be raised for the Fire Fighters charity which supports firefighter and their families in times of need.

*HEAD over to Charlton Down on Sunday for opera with a difference.

Pop-Up Opera will perform a Mozart double bill of Der Schauspieldirektor and Bastien und Bastienneat Herrison Hall in Charlton Down from 7.30pm.

Sit back and enjoy two delicious one-act comedies in which a pair of actresses battle it out to be the prima donna, and a pair of lovers tease and test their feelings for each other. *FINGERS crossed for a good day of weather at Air FM's Party in the Park at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth on Sunday.

*CATCH a display of historic moving armour with Tankfest at the Tank Museum in Bovington.

*MEAT Loaf tribute act Rock and Roll Dreams Came True comes to the stage of Weymouth Pavilion tonight (29).

This two hour extravaganza stars the internationally acclaimed Peter Young. The unique musicianship of this eight piece live band, complete with Jim Steinman (Mike Corfield) on piano, will transport you to another world.

*DIRTY DC, a tribute to AC/DC will return to Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow night (30) at 8pm to perform a 40th anniversary set of the album Let There Be Rock in its entirety, then straight into an AC/DC classics set.

Expect to hear all the massive anthems, Thunderstruck, Whole Lotta Rosie, Shoot to Thrill, Back in Black, Hells Bells and many more in this two set show.

*SURF'S up as the Beach Boyz, a tribute band to the Beach Boys, will be at Weymouth Pavilion tomorrow at 7.30pm.

The Beach Boyz tribute band will deliver a stunning show of technicolour harmonies that will take your breath away.

Expect to hear a comprehensive selection of chart hits America’s biggest pop band ever recorded including: God Only Knows - Good Vibrations - I Get Around - Surfin’ USA - Fun Fun Fun - California Girls - Sloop John B and many more. Cal the box office for tickets.

*BEAMINSTER Festival concludes this weekend with a performance of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes and Marvellous Music by the Magnard Ensemble with Rebecca Kenny at the Public Hall in Beaminster and a performance by 60s tribute band The Overtures at Beaminster School on Saturday.
