AUDIENCES are set to be dazzled by three spectacular concerts as part of this year's BSO Proms in the Park.

The event takes place at Meyrick Park in Bournemouth from August 9 to 11, kicking off with a Relaxed Thursday, followed by a Classical Extravaganza on Friday and the Disco Symphonic Spectacular on Saturday.

Concert-goers are invited to pack a picnic and join the BSO for a relaxed afternoon in the sun from 4pm on Thursday, to enjoy the sounds of the BSO alongside its brand new ensemble, BSO Resound, Mini BSO and lots of fun activities perfect for the whole family.

The orchestra's Classical Extravaganza on Friday bring the most popular and recognisable pieces of classical music to life in a concert with lasers, lights, pyrotechnics and fireworks.

Led by Victor Aviat, BSO Leverhulme Young Conductor in Association, the orchestra promises an evening of the best symphonic music in the world. With a programme featuring Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Sibelius’ Finlandia, Shostakovich’s Festival Overture, Ravel’s Balero and legendary cinema favourites courtesy of Williams, Zimmer and Bernstein.

From start to finish the Classical Extravaganza will be packed full of memorable tunes including Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, appropriately accompanied by a choreographed display of fireworks and pyrotechnics, and Tchaikovsky’s explosive 1812 Overture – complete with replica cannons.

Finally, the Disco Symphonic Spectacular on Saturday will allow audience to relive the magical sounds of the seventies and dance the night away.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Lance Ellington will join the BSO with three other West End singers - Annie Skates, Hazel Fernandes and Andrew Playfoot - to perform disco hits, while the orchestra will be conducted by BSO favourite Pete Harrison.

Pete works extensively in London’s West End as well as being a regular guest conductor with the BSO, since making his debut with the orchestra in 2005.

The full orchestra will perform disco tracks by the Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, Boney M, Sister Sledge, Donna Summer and Kool and the Gang. The evening culminates with a spectacular son et lumiere featuring a specially curated soundtrack accompanied by stunning fireworks, pyrotechnics and flames, lasers, lights and other special effects.
