A COMEDIAN who made national news after she was "harassed and humiliated" for using a disabled space for her mobility scooter, is coming to play a gig at a Portland theatre after being touched by the venue's support.

Tanyalee Davis will perform her comedy show at the Royal Manor Theatre on Portland on Friday, November 23.

Tanyalee, 37, a disabled comedian, said she was reduced to tears when a railway guard made her move so that a woman could put her pram in the wheelchair area. She was issued with an apology by the rail operator but said 'an apology is not enough'.

Upon hearing the news the chairman of Portland’s Royal Manor Theatre made contact with Tanyalee’s agent to explain that had she been in Dorset, or more specifically Portland, she would’ve been warmly welcomed by people here.

Mike Deadman, of the theatre, said: "Tanyalee has since answered – and agreed to pay a visit to check out our beautiful island for herself! She will now headline an evening of stand-up comedy."

The evening will also feature two other comedians - Julian Dean - as seen on Russell Howard's Stand Up Hour, and Rob Mulholland - English Comedian of The Year finalist.

Another show announced by the Royal Manor Theatre is comedy A Tomb With A View by Norman Robbins.

This production runs from Monday, October 8 to Saturday, October 13 and is set in as sinister an old library as one is likely to come across presided over by a portrait of a grim faced, mad eyed old man. There, a dusty, lawyer reads a will (involving some millions of pounds) to an equally sinister family one member of which has were wolf tendencies, another wanders around in a toga of Julius Caesar and a third member is a gentle old lady who plants more than seeds in her flower beds. Are the other characters all that they appear to be?
