A SPECIAL concert of Karl Jenkins's extraordinary work The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace will be performed by Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Wessex Youth Orchestra at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Saturday, October 20 at 7.30pm.
This mass, which has become Jenkins’ most performed work, has clocked up more than 900 performances since its premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000.
It was commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum for the Millennium celebrations, to mark the museum’s move from London to Leeds and was dedicated to victims of the Kosovo crisis.
The musicians performing at this gala concert have provided their services to support the arts, with all proceeds of the concert being donated to the Lighthouse40 campaign to fund an annual programme of opportunities for young people to engage with the arts.
The piece will be conducted by Gavin Carr and Susanna Riddell. Call the box office for tickets.
