VINTAGE folk, swing, and blues from Canada is heading on tour to rural Dorset.

Canadian trio My Sweet Patootie have a reputation for embracing everything that makes live music so intoxicating and this October they head to Dorset for four gigs across the county with Artsreach, Dorset’s touring arts charity.

Their tour will take them to Piddletrenthide near Dorchester.

With a folk-roots, country blues and vintage jazz sound heavily influenced by the likes of Chet Atkins, Stéphane Grappelli, and the Andrews Sisters, My Sweet Patootie throw in to the mix a penchant for a fierce fiddle tunes, light-hearted satire and their love of artists like Patsy Cline, create a unique and uplifting sound.

The band's name My Sweet Patootie is a slang term of endearment meaning a 'hot dame' or a 'sassy sweetheart', which became popular in North America the 1920s and was chosen to capture the vintage flavour of the band’s music, as well as the satirical edge in much of their song writing.

With a sly wink and a grin, My Sweet Patootie draw you into a world of carnival barkers and nostalgic romantics. Shades of vintage swing, country blues, folk and ragtime collide in an uplifting vaudeville-style show, performed with tight vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and humorous storytelling.

The band features Canadian Folk Music Award winners Sandra Swannell on vocals and fiddle, and Terry Young on guitar and bass, with support from Devonshire percussionist John Jackson. Armed with their trademark tight vocal harmonies, bass-driven finger style guitar, swing fiddle and ricky-tick percussion, don’t miss them in Dorset this autumn!
