My Brilliant Friend (8 episodes, starts streaming from November 19 exclusively on NOW TV, Drama/Romance)

Adapted from Elena Ferrante's best-selling novels, My Brilliant Friend is an ambitious eight-part Italian drama, which screens on HBO and streams exclusively on NOW TV.

Told largely in flashback, the story centres initially on an elderly woman called Elena Greco (Elisabetta De Palo), whose house is full of books and fractured memories of a past spent in sun-dappled Naples.

When she learns that her beloved friend Raffaella Cerullo aka Lila has disappeared, Elena sits down at her computer and begins to type the remarkable story of their lives.

She is transported back to the 1950s when the young Elena (Elisa Del Genio) befriended Lila (Ludovica Nasti) at school and the two girls embarked on myriad misadventures, oblivious to the social and political upheaval around them.

The fortunes of Elena and Lila are entwined but eventually, fate conspires to separate them.
