CHRISTMAS comes but once a year, and this December Artsreach are delighted to herald in the festive season with two concerts by Narthen, a quartet of acclaimed vocalists and musicians.
Featuring Barry Coope and Lester Simpson of Coope Boyes and Simpson, Jo Freya of Blowzabella and Fi Fraser of The Old Fashioned/ Polka Works, Narthen are known for their sumptuous four part harmonies, but include piano, accordion, fiddle, soprano sax, ukulele and whistles in this heart-warming new show for Christmas.
Packed full of polyphonic a capella carols and other gorgeous seasonal songs and tunes, Hark Hark! reflects all aspects of the winter season, from the beautiful carols of North Yorkshire, Derbyshire and beyond, to the irreverent nature of certain aspects of Christmas. Threaded together with a welcoming hotch-potch of stories, poetry and jokes, the show is rich in the Variety tradition, with various nods to music hall and steeped in folk’s past and present; expect a wonderfully warm, winter night out.
