A SHOW with a difference is coming to Weymouth Pavilion this weekend.

Rock for Heroes is a unique live music experience featuring a full live rock band and singers helping to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Will Norton, a vocalist in the Essex-based show, said Help for Heroes is a cause close to he and his fellow performers' hearts.

He said: "Each of the cast members have got friends or family in the forces. Two of his uncles served in the RAF and both of fellow singer Phil's grandfathers served in the Second World War.

"These days so many people get celebrated as 'heroes'- these servicemen and women are the people who lay their lives on the line for us to go on and live our lives.

"I'm glad we can give something back to people so dear to our hearts who have done so much for our country."

Last year Rock for Heroes raised £12,000 for Help for Heroes. The show has set itself a target of raising £2.3m.

This in the second year of touring the show, Will said.

The audience can expect to see songs performed from artists such as Dire Straits, Status Quo, Queen, David Bowie, Spandau Ballet, Bryan Adams, Elton John, AC/DC, Whitesnake and more.

Will said: "We had a great time last time we came to Weymouth and we're still in the early days of the show going out. You never know how people are going to react to something new but the numbers have been building.

"The evening is full of a bit of everything. It's a very mixed bag of Status Quo and Queen. Our subtitle is 'music, laughter and a chat with the audience'. The evening is a chance to let your hair down after a long week. We always say 'this isn't your normal theatre show'.

Will said he never thought he'd be performing as a career.

"When I was growing up I didn't think I'd be doing this. At school I was a pain in the bottom! I was going to do a course to go into the forces but I ended up becoming a singer. It's always been something I've loved doing. I never thought I'd be doing it for a career."

He and the show's other performers genuinely love what they do, he said.

"It's great fun and the fact that we can do it for such a good cause is even better.

"We love our jobs and the difference with us and other shows is that you can go and see a show and sometimes people on stage are looking like they don't want to be there and they aren't enjoying themselves.

"But from the moment I get onto the stage I don't stop dancing. I've now got something that counts my steps and I worked out that I do 12,000 steps on the stage! The shows are very full of energy.

"And we love coming out after the show to speak to people."
