THE Rude Mechanical Theatre Company is bringing its tour of ‘Ikarus Inc’ to Abbotsbury.
The group has been touring to village greens, pub fields and the like for more than 20 years and will be back again this summer to outdoor venues across the county.
They will be performing a revival of their inspiring ‘Ikarus Inc’, a play about hopes and dreams.
Set in the little town of Dreamville, Indiana, in the 50s, travelling salesman Daedalus H. Gildersleeves and his son Ikarus, who sells dreams from a suitcase. Secret hopes are laid bare as they begin to fly the townsfolk up into the clear blue skies to the dreams.
Meanwhile, the ladies of the local Buffalos Club – the Buffalesses – enter a competition to make the biggest pumpkin pie ever to raise money for ‘the sufferin’ poor’.
The play has been described as ‘hilarious, romantic, tender, searching – and laced with rock ‘n’ roll’.
‘Ikarus Inc’ will be performed at The Abbey House in Abbotsbury on Friday, June 21 from 7.30pm.
Bring a picnic, chairs and warm clothing for an English summer.
Tickets cost £17 plus concessions and are available at www.therudemechanicaltheatre.co.uk
