A PACKED programme of concerts and talks will be held in Purbeck.

Purbeck Art Weeks Festival will be held from May 25 to June 9, alongside artists’ open studios and exhibitions across Purbeck.

The Gabrieli Consort opens the festival with a flourish in the Priory Church of Lady St Mary, Wareham (May 25 at 6.30pm) with a celebration of English Coronations of the 20th century.

Paul McCreesh and Gabrieli bring the history, ceremony and liturgy of these four extraordinary coronations to life in a programme for choir, organ, brass ensemble and timpani, shedding new light on beloved works of the Anglican cathedral tradition.

The organist is Matthew Martin, who is director of music at Keble College, Oxford. And our very own PAW Festival Choir will augment these forces for Parry’s I Was Glad and Handel’s Zadok the Priest, while the audience can join in the Old 100th and the National Anthem.

Come and enjoy this celebration with us – and get PAW off to a resounding start!
