SEE an ancient house during an open day today, before it goes into the care of the Landmark Trust.

Dunshay Manor, which is nestled down a leafy lane near Corfe Castle and the Swanage steam railway line, was the home of Mary Spencer Watson, an exceptional 20th-century sculptor whose work can be seen in several cathedrals, including Salisbury.

The house itself was built and adapted from the 16th century onwards, undergoing an Arts and Crafts refresh in the early 20th century before being purchased in 1923 by Mary’s father, the society portraitist George Spencer Watson RA.

Visitors can come and look around the historic house for free from 10am to 4pm. See for more information.
