HEAR a musical celebration of marriage in Sherborne Abbey

Sherborne Chamber Choir cordially invites you to its final concert of the season in Sherborne Abbey on Saturday, June 22 at 7.30pm. for a musical celebration of love and marriage.

The programme contains a joyful selection of favourites chosen by brides and grooms for their special day, alongside sacred songs of love from the Song of Solomon, which contains some of the most beautiful love poetry ever written, inspiring composers from across the ages.

Music includes popular favourites such as Bach Jesu, joy of man’s desiring, Schubert Ave Maria and Handel Zadok the Priest, and music heard at recent Royal weddings such as Parry I was glad, Paul Mealor Ubi Caritas and John Rutter This is the day, both written for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Alongside are settings from the Song of Solomon by composers as diverse as Walton, Victoria and Patrick Hadley. Organist Simon Clarkson completes the programme with wedding music such as the famous Widor Toccata.

There is plenty to enjoy, whether you are planning a wedding, would like to remember your own, or just want an enjoyable summer’s evening of good music!

The choir will be joined by choristers from Sherborne Abbey Choir, who will join in some of the items as well as singing on their own.

The choir’s musical Director Paul Ellis conducts the concert and Simon Clarkson is the organist.

Tickets for the concert are priced from £5-£16, students under 18 free, and are available from Sherborne Tourist Information Centre, Digby Road, Sherborne, 01935 815341.
