A MEMBER of the Redgrave acting dynasty is to perform in Dorchester.

Colette Redgrave plays one of the women in Picasso's life in Picasso's Women.

The play is made up of monologues and confessionals performed by actors playing three of the most influential women in the early life of the artist Picasso.

Picasso's Women, by Flying Elephant Productions, comes to Dorchester Corn Exchange on Sunday, June 30 from 7pm.

The production enjoyed a critically acclaimed, sell out run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and transferred to London last year.

It was written by Brian McAvera and directed by Marcia Carr.

The production features Fernande, played by Judith Paris, who tells the audience about the lustful early years of her relationship with Picasso. Fernande is known to have published her memoirs in her later years to great success. The play then focuses on Olga, Picasso’s first wife, who is played by Colette Redgrave. She candidly recounts the ‘departments in which Picasso lacked’ and the sadness she felt when she lost her husband to the younger and nubile Marie-Therese performed by Lucy Hunt.

Colette Redgrave is co-producing Picasso's Women with Marcia Carr. She has also produced European productions of Starlight Express, Much Ado About Nothing, His Dark Materials, Cabaret and Chess. Colette has worked throughout Europe as an actress and voice artist. Most recently her voice can be heard on the new Rocketman film and in a series of audio-books of Amazon Best Seller titles.

Colette said: "I am delighted that Picasso’s Women, as Flying Elephant’s premier production, was so well received at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The feedback and reviews have been overwhelming and we look forward to producing more thought provoking, female led work over the next year."

Flying Elephant Productions is proud to have multi award winning actress, Dame Judi Dench as its patron alongside Toyah Willcox and Professor Elizabeth Cowling. Artists Rebecca Fontaine-Wolf and Irene Lees will be providing stunning artwork inspired by the show for the tour.
