GRAB a blanket and picnic beneath the stars while enjoying the magic of open-air theatre.

The award-winning Cornish company Miracle Theatre has joined forces with Artsreach to produce a brand new comic escapade, A Perfect World, which is coming to Dorset this summer.

Follow a feisty young woman as she embarks on a voyage into a world of undiscovered jungles, treasure maps and campfires. Leading her team of quarrelsome explorers, she stumbles into a peaceful paradise - but is this tranquil place too good to be true?

Bill Scott, artistic director at Miracle, says: “People have dreamt of utopia since the earliest times and world literature contains many weird and wonderful variations of possible perfect worlds. There have been various attempts to build real-life utopian communities, but they invariably have one thing in common: a ‘perfect’ world comes at a price. It’s a wonderfully rich theme, especially when linked to the popular genre of exploration and adventure – think Indiana Jones meets Doctor Who!”

The much-loved Miracle Theatre company is celebrating 40 years of producing original, inventive and entertaining shows, which are always a highlight of the summer performance programme organised by Artsreach.

Artsreach is Dorset’s touring arts organisation, giving rural communities all over the county the opportunity to see and participate in high quality arts events in their own villages. As a charitable organisation, Artsreach aims to make ticket prices accessible to everyone and receives regular funding from Arts Council England and Dorset Council.

See A Perfect World at Springhead Gardens (01747 811853) on Thursday, August 1, Sandford Orcas (01963 220208) on Friday, August 2, and Kimmeridge Bay (01305 269512) on Saturday, August 3. All performances start at 7pm and take place outdoors, so wrap up warm!
