FOLLOWING last year's successful event BAC On The Fiddle, returns with another clutch of the country's best fiddle players.

This year sees music from across the world descend on Bridport, with traditional English, Scandinavian and Bluegrass music all represented .

Rising young star Bella Hardy will be joined by Chris Sherburn from Last Night's Fun to headline this year's event. Bella has been bowling over festival crowds all summer with her hypnotic vocals and superb playing.

In July she played alongside Bellowhead and Martin Simpson in the Folk Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, while Mojo declared her album, Night Visiting one of its top 10 folk albums of the year.

Concert organiser Keith Hatch said: "Last year's event was a great success and we're really pleased to be able to follow it with another great line-up. As well as Bella we have South West duo Nyckelharpa. The nyckelharpa is an amazing instrument and has its origins in 14th Century Sweden. There are currently only a handful in the UK, and Gris Sanderson and Louis Bingham play both traditional and contemporary music from Sweden as well as original compositions.

"Opening the show is local favorite Stompin' Dave Allen, normally known for his banjo playing. Dave is also a top quality fiddle player, specialising in American roots music, old-time, bluegrass, blues, country blues, folk, vintage country and hillbilly. He has picked up many tunes in his tours across the States and will be bring them home to Bridport."

The concert is at Bridport Arts centre on Saturday, October 4 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 plus concessions from the venue on 01308 424204.

Glam rock is also on the menu this weekend when T-Rextasy return to Dorset with a show at the Regent Centre in Christchurch tonight.

Voted No 1 on the BBC's Battle of the Fantasy Bands Show, T-Rextasy promise to raise the roof with T.Rex classics including I Love To Boogie, Metal Guru, Jeepster, Get It On and 20th Century Boy.

T-Rextasy's lead singer, Danielz, bears such an uncanny resemblance to Marc Bolan, that former T-Rex guitarist Jack Green said "It's just like seeing Marc again".

T-Rextasy themselves have been hailed by the former T-Rex drummer, Bill Legend, as the closest you'll ever get to the real thing'. Indeed they are the only tribute band to be authorised by the controllers of Marc Bolan's music catalogue.

Tonight's concert starts at 7,30pm and tickets are £15.50 plus concessions from the box office on 01202 499199.
