ENGLISH Heritage will welcome 20 guests to enjoy the most memorable night’s sleep of their lives at Portland Castle on Friday, September 14.

With over 450 years of history and well-known for its ghoulish residents, Portland Castle promises a night like no other.

The evening will begin at 7pm with a hot fruit punch around an open fire before the guests are treated to a special twilight tour. Guests will get to experience the eerie night-time surroundings of this haunted castle, rich in history from the First and Second World Wars while lending an ear to some grizzly stories of times past.

A warming supper and hot chocolate will be served in the Captain’s Tearoom to take the edge off the spooky ghost tales before guest’s bed down for the night.

Donna Brading at Portland Castle, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting the adult sleepover at Portland Castle, especially after the success of this event at other English Heritage properties.”

“Guests have never been able to tour the castle grounds after hours and this event will provide a unique experience in a magnificent setting.”

Book immediately to secure your place at this event as visitor numbers are limited and are restricted to adults only, however a similar event is planned for later this year – a ‘Halloween’ themed overnight stay on October 31 – which is suitable for families.
