COASTGUARDS launched an investigation after intercepting a ‘pan pan’ urgency call on the emergency radio channel used by mariners.
Fearing someone could be in distress at sea, Portland Coastguard controllers made inquiries yesterday.
It was later established that the call had been the end of a broadcast being made by coastguards in Jersey and no further action was required.
