POLICE are appealing for witnesses after jewellery and an iPod were stolen in a Weymouth burglary.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after the burglary at a house in Broughton Crescent, Wyke Regis.
The victim, a 55-year-old man, came home from work to find thieves had broken into his home by smashing a window.
An iPod Touch, gold fob watch with a broken glass face, gold cross, silver St. Christopher chain and quantity of foreign currency were stolen.
PC Adam Bayliss, of Weymouth police, said: “This crime has left the victim very shaken, and he is understandably upset that his personal belongings have been rifled through by strangers.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information about those responsible to contact police as soon as possible.
“I would also appeal to anyone who recalls any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the burglary.
“It is possible that members of the public may be offered the jewellery in unusual circumstances and we would urge them to speak to police as well.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
Police have just released details of the incident, which happened between 7am and 5pm on Thursday, March 21.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 21:327 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
