I must reply to the anonymous letter writer who stated that the Rodwell trail is a place where dogs must be kept on short leash. I have to say that he is wrong.
Sometime ago in a council debate, it was decided that dogs could be free on the trail and also in the Nothe Gardens.
The problem is the shared path – cyclists and walkers are not a good mix.
I have met many polite and considerate cyclists, often family groups, who use their bells and ride at a reasonable speed.
But I have to say that most are usually hell bent on getting from A to B in the shortest possible time.
Heads down, dressed all over in Lycra, these would-be Bradley Wiggins are a pain and damper it all.
I have had a few run ins with these types who assume that everyone from toddlers to OAPs and of course dogs must get out of their way.
Maybe I was that elderly lady, but unlike your correspondent I am not afraid to put my name to this letter.
