FRIENDSHIP and support is offered at a meeting for carers that takes place today.
The Portland Carers meeting will take place at Tophill Surgery in Easton starting at 10.30am and all who are interested are invited to attend.
Ann Sanders will be talking about the benefits of Reiki.
Chairman of the group Jo Pearce said: “Caring for someone can be very lonely and isolating and our group offers friendship and support to carers so why not pop in and have a coffee and a chat.
“You might well be surprised at the help and advice that is available.”
She added that St John Ambulance played a massive role in supporting carers and was hoping to run some training days in the near future. These will include sessions on the prevention of falls and first aid, coping with dementia/reminiscence and safer practical handling.
These sessions will be free and include lunch.
Anyone interested in these or any other aspect of caring should contact Jo Pearce on 01305 826479.
