Dorset Volunteer Centre is appealing for voluntary and community organisations to create new opportunities for young volunteers.
A spokesman for the centre said: “The first group we will concentrate on will be younger volunteers aged 16 to 25.
“We are currently inundated with requests from younger people who are finding difficulty in gaining placements and want to volunteer across a wide range of activities.”
