A PAIR of affordable housing schemes in West Dorset are a step closer to being realised.
Members of West Dorset District Council’s executive committee approved funding boosts for projects at Toller Porcorum and Marshwood that would create 12 new affordable homes in the area.
The committee agreed to underwrite costs of £32,000 to enable Aster Homes to purchase land to develop six affordable homes and a post office in partnership with the Toller Porcorum Community Land Trust.
The move will help the Trust secure £297,000 in funding from the Homes and Communities Agency. Councillor Sarah East said: “It’s an excellent example of what we are doing to help bring forward development in our area.”
Members agreed to grant Hastoe Housing Association £12,000 for a planning application for six affordable homes at Marshwood in partnership with the Community Land Trust.
