PUPILS will have the honour of unveiling a plaque on the old Whitehead Torpedo Factory site in Weymouth.
The youngsters from Wyke Regis Junior School have been chosen to carry out the ceremony today.
It comes after the Wyke Regis Protection Society raised funds for a new plaque on the site of the old factory.
With generous donations from Crest Nicholson, The Working Men’s Club, Wyke Regis Social Club, residents and retired employees a new plaque was placed on the original plinth in October 2012.
Now they have asked the school’s youngster to perform the official unveiling. It came after the society heard that the pupils were studying the history of the plaque.
The society says that it also wants to thank Stones the Masons for its interest and its professional advice.
Councillors, residents and retired employees are also invited to the small ceremony.
Anyone with any connection with Whiteheads is also invited to the event at 10.30am at Whitehead Drive, Ferrybridge.
